Job Description

West Texas A&M Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish beginning in August 2017. We are looking for a qualified candidate in Peninsular Spanish literary and cultural studies or Second Language Acquisition with a strong interest in language pedagogy and technology.

The successful candidate will teach all levels of Spanish, assist in academic advising, and participate in department- and university-related service.

Necessary Qualifications

A Ph.D. is required. ABD candidates with a dissertation defense date no later than Aug. 1, 2017 will be considered.

Applicants should have experience, enthusiasm and excellence in college-level teaching, a commitment to research and scholarship, native or near-native English and Spanish, and a willingness to contribute to a growing and collegial Spanish program.

Preferred Qualifications

A commitment to and experience teaching Heritage Spanish Speakers is preferred. An enthusiasm to lead and plan study abroad programs is also highly desirable.
