Job Description

The Security Analyst II will primarily support university-wide efforts to maintain compliance with Texas Administrative Code 202, technology provisions of the Higher Education Opportunity Act, and PCI-DSS information security standards. This position is responsible for the daily administration, monitoring, and reporting of campus-wide information security systems such as patch management systems, desktop and server antivirus systems, data loss prevention systems, PCI-DSS scanning, vulnerability assessment, physical security, web security protection, and network support. Position will also monitor identity management systems and perform account reviews, audits, and reporting on a frequent basis. This position will also support the lead security analyst by performing periodic spot-checks to ensure compliance with established university rules, standard administrative procedures, and standard operating procedures related to the security of electronic and information resources. Other duties will include desktop support, helpdesk, network support, server support, and supporting the annual risk assessment process.

Work performed includes:

Monitor and manage identity management systems to detect anomalies such as account lockouts and logon failures that occur throughout the day on desktop systems, servers, VPN, and wireless devices.

Perform periodic spot checks against central IT information systems and decentralized areas such as the University Bookstore, the Buffalo Goldcard Office, the nursing clinic, the Amarillo center, the Small Business Development Center, and the WT Enterprise Network.

Assist with desktop support, helpdesk, network support, and server support.

Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three years of related experience.

Four years management, administration and security of mobile and desktop computing systems. Knowledge of network and security protocols. Experience with large scale antivirus/malware detection and prevention systems.

Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work as an effective member in a team environment. Strong customer service skills. Work order and time management experience. This is a security-sensitive position.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in a computer related field.

Four or more years direct experience with campus information systems such as Microsoft Windows Active Directory, large scale user account/password management, security awareness training, and security policy creation and compliance.

Security related certifications such as CISSP or SAN GIAC certifications.

Pay Rate $44,424.46 to $49,236; salary is commensurate with education and experience.
