Job Description

The West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) Department of Nursing seeks qualified candidates for a nine-month appointment teaching undergraduate nursing courses, both theory and clinical, commensurate with expertise and education. The appointment also provides the opportunity for other faculty roles and responsibilities.

Faculty in the Department of Nursing at WTAMU enjoy collegial relationships and rich interchange among faculty certified in their areas of expertise within the department and throughout the university community. The program received full CCNE accreditation in 2009 for 10 years. The Bivins Nursing Learning Center is available for teaching support. Faculty also enjoy positive community relationships with numerous, diverse health agencies that focus on the care of children and families.

Necessary Qualifications

A master’s degree in nursing is required for an instructor position. A current license, or eligibility for license, to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas is required. The ability to instruct students in a variety of courses in various clinical situations, to develop teaching materials, and to work effectively as a member of the team are required.

Preferred Qualifications

A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field is preferred. If the doctorate is in a related field, a master’s degree in nursing is required. Experience in teaching in baccalaureate and/or master’s degree programs in nursing is preferred. Experience with simulation is preferred.

Pay Rate Commensurate with education and experience. An applicant with a doctoral degree is eligible for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position. Tenure-track faculty must demonstrate productivity in scholarly activity.
